Today, I decided to use the loom waste from the most recent commission, rather than throw it away. I wove it into a rather coarsely woven tea towel. I've put up some new photos of the alpaca/silk warp with a handspun, laceweight single.It's varigated in the roving, and I like it tremendously for this warp. The fabric density is 50% of the density with the pink varigated. This weft was about 1/3 the diameter of the previous, and more densely spun. The colors are more subtle with this mocha warp. Just a few pics of my latest piece. It's Murphy's diaper. I wove one repeat of the patter....sort of. Here's what I did. I used a tabby. For every tabby shot, I wove two with a tabby in between. The first patter shot was in red, and the second was in fuschia. It made the pattern x2 as long as it would have been if I had woven it traditionally. Then I choose 2 blocks that didn't have long

I just wanted to post pictures of the piece I'm weaving at Roseneath. The pattern yarn is a very cool handspun that I did sort of 'on the fly'. I am using a Gems merino teal colored warp, and a navy blue corriedale hand-spun tabby weft. Hope you like it. I have also included a picture of the yarn before it is woven. Here are a couple of pics from my house. One of them is the work that used to be hung in my 'hall of fame' as my students used to call it. It was the work that I was soo proud of as a younger weaver. Hi Friends!I just wanted to let you know that Bay School of the Arts has a fiber show opening Sat. 11/24. I will be at the opening from 4-6. I have about 10 hats there, a wall hanging, a tallit, a handspun and handwoven silk scarf, and a few other things. Marilyn, from the CACGA hatfelting class has an entry from the class. I've got a very busy schedule for the end of Oct and through Nov. If you are interested in taking a class to learn to make felt hats, I have several hatfelting classes in Virginia.
